The Basics of iPhone Screen Repair and Replacement

The Basics of iPhone Screen Repair and Replacement

There can be times when you need to repair or replace your iPhone screen. These type of screens are fragile and can easily break when you accidentally drop your phone or bump it against a hard surface. If your screen has been damaged, you need to know the basics of getting it repaired or replaced.

Do You Have Apple Coverage?

Before you start looking at your options for repairing or replacing your iPhone screen, you need to work if your phone is still under warranty. Apple offers AppleCare+ which is a warranty that replaces parts of the phone when it has been damaged accidentally. While this coverage will be helpful, you will only get 2 replacements and there is an excess fee that needs to be paid.

If you have AppleCare+, you should contact an Apple store for your iphone repairs. This coverage will include a new screen for your phone and the excess charged will vary depending on the phone model you have. You will be able to find out more about the cost on the Apple website or from the Apple Store.

Repair And Replace With Apple

If you have AppleCare+, you should work through Apple to get your screen repaired and replaced. One of the best ways to do this is to make an appointment at your closest Apple Store. If you do not have an Apple Store close to where you live, you should contact an Apple Authorised Service Provider.

The Apple Authorised Service Provider will be trained by Apple and provide a repair service backed by Apple. The quality of the service will be the same as the one that you get from Apple. The screen will also be a genuine Apple product when you work with these providers.

After making an appointment, you will need to take your phone to the Apple Store or another provider. They will then be able to repair your screen for you. It is recommended that you backup all of your files on the phone before you take it in.

There are some stores that will offer you a same-day screen repair. However, this will not always be the case and you need to consider this.

If you do not have the ability to take your phone to the Apple Store or another technician, you can send it in. You will need to contact Apple and they will send a box to collect your phone. You will then need to arrange to have the phone shipped to an Apple Repair Centre. If you choose this option, your phone will generally be returned or ready to be picked up within 7 to 9 days.

Not Covered By AppleCare+

If you do not have AppleCare+, you can still take your phone to Apple to be repaired. However, the cost of the screen repair will be much higher. Depending on the model you have, paying for a screen repair or replacement outside of the coverage can cost over $250.

It is important to note that if your phone is covered under warranty, the warranty does not cover screen repairs and replacement. This is due to the fact that the damage will generally be caused by accidents. The warranty only covers damage to the phone that is due to defects and not accidental damage.

Working With A Third-Party

If your phone is out of warranty and you do not have AppleCare+, you can get the screen repaired and replaced by a third-party provider. These providers are generally phone and electronic stores that complete repairs on any type of phone. If you are thinking of using one of these services, you should do some research first.

You need to check that they actually work with iPhones because there are many of these providers that do not. You should also check reviews for the provider to ensure that your phone is in good hands. You want to hand your phone to an iPhone repair shop that is not going to do even more damage.

Other Insurance Coverage

There are many people who have additional insurance coverage on their iPhone because of the cost of the device. If you are one of these people, you may have to contact your insurance provider before you have the screen repaired or replaced. There are some insurance providers that have a list of approved vendors that you can work with. If you do not work with these vendors, you may not be able to claim the costs from your insurance.
